(TX and Nationwide)
Approximately 70% to 80% of school-age students have been involved in bullying at some point during their school years, whether as bully, victim, or bystander (e.g., Graham, 2011; Nansel, Overpeck, Pilla, Ruan, Simons-Morton, & Scheidt, 2001)
Rafi Rondón, in his character as “Bombín The Clown”, is a Bully Prevention Edutainer who can connect with kids. He travels nationwide speaking to students through his fun and engaging program. Rafi believes that bullying is just the tip of the iceberg, a symptom of a bigger problem. Bullying is a symptom of a lack of good character.
As a kid, Rafael was picked on in middle school so he is passionate about helping eliminate school bullying on campuses nationwide. His program uses comedy and magic to engage the students but most importantly, he gets their attention. More than saying that bullying is wrong or just telling the victim to seek help; this program will encourage students to treat each other with kindness and respect, and empower the victims to control how they respond to bullies.
Every year schools celebrate Red Ribbon Week with the purpose of promoting the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse amongst students. Rafael is the perfect guest speaker for Red Ribbon Week at elementary schools.
According to a report from the UT-Austin Addiction Research Institute, some children are using drugs in the fourth grade. Children are using drugs at a much younger age than ever before. With his clown character, Rafael connects with the youngsters and delivers a clear message to warn them about the dangers of drugs. In a fun and safe way, the students can learn and/or reinforce good values and standards that will help them stay away from drugs. Bombín the clown will teach and encourage the students to choose their side now before they are standing in front of the temptation. When and if they face the decision to take or reject drugs, they will know already where they stand.

What People are Saying:
“My favorite was the visual examples that Bombín used to relate to friendship and building relationships. The students understood the objective of the program which was to treat others the way you want to be treated.” ~J. Terry – Teacher, L. Clifford Davis Elementary, Fort Worth, TX
“The children were used in the act and Bombín really kept them entertained the whole time. At the end they still wanted more, but the forty-five minute presentation was just right. It ended with Bombín reviewing and asking the children what they had learned. I highly recommend this program to anyone needing to teach children in a positive way how not to be bullied.” ~ Connie Verrett, Site Supervisor, Clayton Yes!, Fort Worth, TX
